Trap Weekly Report

Useful news and information if you are planning a visit to our Pool in Buckley.

Updated Sept 15th 2017

Finally, finally things are back to normal at the Trap Pool. All the quality fish had apparently become pre-occupied with natural food and were ellusive to say the least. However, now Roach, Ide ,Perch, Bream, Crucians and Carp are being caught in great numbers from just about anywhere.

All the usual pegs are performing well but surprisingly, pegs 1 to 8 are very consistent with bags of 100 fish commonplace. I won Thursdays match with over 100 fish, mainly Roach and Perch but boosted with a dozen big Ide all taken on maggot and caster from peg 2.

We now have a gap in the match calendar before the Winter League starts on October 1st. This is a series usually well attended. The matches are run as Rovers so you can choose to walk as far or as little as you want to to your chosen peg. The whole pool remains open to others during this series with only available pegs being used by the matchmen.

Please note the pool is open for day tickets all year around, even on match days with the exception of the Charity match which takes place this year on Sunday 24th July. But you do need to purhase your ticket before starting fishing. Tickets are on sale at Lionels Tackle by the lights in Ewloe Place and are open 7 days a week.

I SHOULD LIKE TO REMIND ALL MEMBERS THAT NIGHT FISHING IS BANNED ON THE TRAP POOL. There have been reports of nightfishing going on, and the Committee is working to discover the culprits. Anyone caught, will be asked to leave the water and will receive an automatic ban.

If you are planning to visit the water, please remember to purchase your day ticket from Lionels Tackle BEFORE FISHING .  For opening hours use the link to Lionels Tackle, on the Useful Links Page.
